Title: Autumn Internationals
Post by: Colwyn on November 11, 2017, 16:59:35 PM
Congratulations to Scotland and England for their wins this afternoon although, judging from radio commentaries, neither of the wins was particularly convincing. Next up Wales v Australia and I am not at all optimistic about the game. Wales always lose the first match of the autumn series - its traditional - and Australia are fresh from defeating the All Blacks. Still, in the absence of Hilary in Edinburgh, I have a bottle of Rioja to help me cope with game and a steak pie and mash ready to cook for afterwards.

The Scotland game was as an enjoyable game as you could hope for although I'm not sure the defense coaches of either side might agree.

I'm sure every neutral rugby fan enjoyed that match for the teams' ambition, skill, imagination, pace and stamina. Even as a Welshman I enjoyed it and even considering Beale's knock-on illegal final try, which would have left the final minutes 21/22 and could have altered the play, I think Australia deserved their win due to fewer mistakes. Great stuff.

For us lovers of the other code, I'm really enjoying watching the Rugby League World Cup. Shame most games are on live here in the early hours, but are available to watch later in the day on Premier Sports and all England's games are shown on the BBC. Some big shocks could be on the cards, especially like New Zealand being beaten by Tonga yesterday. England safely through to quarter finals to face Papua New Guinea. Now that should be a belter next weekend.  ;D
