British people?
I dont know specifically about Brits.
Have read of Armenian, Italian, German and of course numerous international journalists.
The high profile American pastor who has family here is still in jail.
We are frequently reminded to be careful.
There used to be a lot of open discussion between expats online.
That's all stopped.
Antalya central forum was closed down.
21 arrests in Izmir recently for anti govt posts.
Not worth the risk posting, personally, waited many years to get here and definitely don't want to leave.

It's really difficult Linda - I have Turkish friends who astounded me by saying they would not post their true thoughts online. They were worried and felt very vulnerable. Astounding not because I thought they were being weak and out of character, astounding that it was that deep, had become that scary.

I know how long and how much you love Turkey Linda and also your strong social and political conscience - it must be very tough weighing them both up right now :(

And all because of one person.      Terrible.

And the millions who vote for him - over and over again.

But what they see, read and hear is controlled by that one person.  And the free sacks of coal and white kitchen

goods have been known to help too.      ;)

I really really love living here and just couldn't contemplate leaving so that makes it easier to just not say anything.
My dad rang me the morning after the coup and told me to call it a day and go back but apart from people drawing their money from atms nothing felt any different.
I've had to decide that unless anything affects me directly or I feel unsafe then I'm very definitely staying.
It doesn't feel as volatile as it was a year or more ago.
Fethiye is very much a bubble, it definitely doesn't reflect the rest of the country.
I keep an eye on what's happening, but currently the people, the scenery and day to day life remains fabulous and its home.
Long may it stay this way, and if it doesn't Albania looks nice  :)
