Perth does not always get snow.  Two miles outside could be a foot deep and we have nothing.

I think we are in some sort of a dip.

However you know other places have got it because you can feel it in the temperature drop.

As Scunner says things can get lost :o

Many years ago we were travelling from Liverpool to Ullapool on Hogmanay.  I had seen the weather forecast before leaving but didn't tell hubby there was snow forecast!  Just as we left Perth I commented that" it didn't look like snow" - a beautiful clear, starry night - the words were barely out of my mouth when we ran into blizzards and had a nightmare journey.  We got into Inverness about 10'clock at night, stopped for fish and chips and then carried on to Ullapool.  The journey from Inverness to Ullapool is on roads that do not see much traffic late at night and especially on Hogmany, we were trying to get to Ullapool for "The Bells" but I was terrified we would go off the road because I knew no one would find us until the morning.

We drove into Ullapool just as the bells were ringing and surprised my parents who didn't know our plans.  I was always glad we went that New Year as it was Dad's last New Year.

I have been to Ullapool a few times years ago.  There was a lot of single track road to there at that time.  Lovely little place and what a lovely surprise for your mum and dad!!!

Sounds like a typical  Perth winter.  Except for two years ago when we got the lot dumped on us.

Ullapool! Loch Broom? Been many times when I was younger and actually pulled a massive Skate out of there on a hand line! Blisters hurt for weeks ;-)

Caravan, fishing, boating. Great times  :)

Yes Stoop, Ullapool, Loch Broom.  I bet you stayed in the caravan Park in front of our house.

That sounds like it! I'll try and drag a picture or two out later.

That was where we stayed in a tent.  One and only experience of camping.
Arrived friday night, rained saturday, went to John o groats on sunday ..lovely day, rained monday,  packed up tuesday and followed blue sky.  Ended up at Braemar which was  near Perth we decided to go home.
Set off next day for Glencoe, up the side of Loch Ness and couldn,t resist we went back to Ullapool.  You guessed, next day rain >:(
Packed up and went home.

Oh Heather what a shame.  Ullapool is gorgeous especially if the sun shines.
