Last week at the bank I asked for and signed for my money and for some reason I felt I had the need to check it before I left the counter as it was all in 50 lira notes.I admit I dont usually double check but an Angel over my shoulder or what. It was 300 lira short !!!!

I am still being given old (yeni) coins, by the time I realise that I've got them it's too late to go back to the shop that I got them from.:(

I got short changed in the market a couple of weeks ago but I noticed and demanded the extra. However, they had the last laugh because  when I got home and lifted my bananas out of the bag I thought they felt light, so I put them on the scales. 600g instead of 1kg. This was the fruit and veg stall on the top corner by the cheese stalls. Surprisinly, I haven't been there since.

It seems we are all fair game in their eyes.
Name shame and complain !

It is normal practice here for the small shops or markets to round down very often because they dont carry many of the small denomination coins.Very often you will be given some sweets instead. As far as the larger coins are concerned most people continue to ciculate them or give them to the dolmus drivers.
