I agree with John.  A lot of UK owners rent their properties on our complex and, truthfully, because of this we are paying for extra chemicals etc but it's swings and roundabouts at the end of the day...how do you differentiate between rentals and family staying???  It's been spoken about by a couple of owners but the majority think it's unfair to expect some owners to pay more than others so it has never gone to the vote or been added to the decision book.

We have this and similar questions raised all the time. Not just about pools but any communal facility. As has been stated already, the standard arrangement is to split the costs based on land share of the site - but other methods of division can be allowed if agreed by the owners and added to the Management Plan (also stated above).

Everyone has a view on how fair this is - if you have a large villa and your family of 3 use it  just a few weeks a year - should you pay more than the 3 bed apart that is rented out every available week to families of 6+. After all, they use more of the facilities. This comes up at our AGM every year but it can only be changed if everyone votes for it - and that wont happen as there will always be winners and losers when you change the fee apportionment.

I thought the maintenance of the complex was per apartment...not per person. There may be 2 in one apartment and 6 in another.....2 weeks per year or 52 weeks per year...some swim ...some don't....
