not really drove through the border stoped at passport control then drove to customs asked if we had insurance (green card) said no sent over to a building to buy it while we where paying for it customs man came over asked to look inside the trailer he spotted a TV I showed him the TVs receipt (4 year old LG) he then worked out the tax payable €40 then sent to another department to pay then back to show the receipt. I think that due to the language barrier it caused us some confusion but other than that most of the people we came into contact with where helpful, all in all it took about an hour.

Here's a tip.

Buy a book of raffle tickets and stick a number on each item of furniture, boxes, suitcases etc. Then prepare a manifest outlining what item each number refers to. If you've got some time on your hands use Google Translate and include the Turkish name for each item and a rough value. It makes things alot easier at the border.

And if your furniture doesn’t suit your new Turkish home you are half set up already for a tombola.
