Went to Çalış Beach Indian restaurant the other night, food excellent, service excellent, stuffed paratha delicious

The Calis Curry Restaurant is OK, but the best place for a curry is not in Calis, but is in Hissy. There you can eat well in the excellent Shine restaurant, and the prices are better than the Calis Curry Restaurant too. The Shine is also favoured by Northeners so you can get chips there too, or a half and half (chips and rice) should the northern palate desire ;) ;) : :) : :)

Yes, we tried it last summer and had a lovely meal at Shine. We'd definitely go back again. I think Calis Beach Indian is just a bit more friendly though, but probably because we've got to know them.

Thats the Curry Palace which is above the Beach House.

The Shine is good but not so much better that it really worth the effort to go all the way to Hisaronu. Plus once l've shelled out for Dolmus/Taxi fares it works out more expensive ;)

Have done it! Afternoon walk to Kaya from the boatyard. Beer stop and then on to Hisaronu for a curry. Still had to get a taxi back though :)

Will try to see if shine really shines when the wife has her nails done in bootys, bet there's no chance of a kingfisher or a cobra.

I really like Curry Palace in Calis, the one up the stairs.
Saffron in Ovacik is lovely too, rumour has it a chef from Shine is there.
Certainly one of the front men is from Shine.
Shine is consistently good. They did a charity night during the winter for Haydos, a choice of curries on each table, was fab.
Their 25th anniversary do was fab too.
Still haven't got round to trying Calis Beach Indian but haven't heard anything bad about it.

The chef at the shine is hassan and he is also the owner so he would not be working at saffron the owner at saffron used to work at the shine his name deniz

I know it's my second post but the Curry Palace is not a patch on the Calis Indian but each to their own it's nice to have a choice

Had a takeaway from Calis Beach Saturday night 4 of us ordered different dishes all gorgeous. ....

Hulk I and Ahmet are business partners splitting the shifts between them.They are both nice ,genuine ,gentlemen two of the nicest guys you will meet.They deserve to do well as their restaurant is great,but like most places struggles to make ends meet.I hope this place survives the down turn

Has anyone been to the Calis beach Indian restaurant this season, most of our favourite restaurants have been commented on but not this one. Jacqui you normally go there - is it still as good as ever. Making me feel hungry just thinking about the lovely curries we had there last year.

Yes, we visited 3 times this time over. Never varies lovely food, well present by the best staff. We love this place.

We had a curry here the other night and both were lovely. Only small grievance were the pooadums were a little stale and also on receiot of the bill we had been charged for a nan bread which was included in my set menu meal but was soon rectified with a genuine apology when i pointed this out and deducted...
The nan bread was divine! :)

Yes usedbustickets, we northeners eat nothing but chips, ever; that's when we've put our coal in the bath, walked our whippets, put on our flat caps and said eebygum!!

And it obviously takes a long time for things to get to the North and back. UBT's post was on 11th March and he has since flounced off so your nice irony is wasted on him.

Never looked at this thread before, as we've not had an Indian meal in Calis until this June!
Didn't notice the dates!!
I actually look at CBF more when I'm at home, to see what I'm missing!

I know this restaurant is an Indian but im sure iv read in the past they do other meals as well...I really want a curry tonight and my son wants a steak so im wondering if he will be able to get a steak there? Thanks in advance :)

Just spoken to Ahmed, The Calis Beach does not sell steak but he said he is happy to go next door and buy and cook it for you,how's that for service!

Which remind me that it is 20 years this month since we first met Hulki (Hakan Yilmaz). If anyone is visiting in the near future please say "Hello" from Hilary and Colwyn. I have a distinctive name and Hilary is a distinctive woman so I am guessing he will remember us. Glad to see he continues to do well on Calis prom.

Went to Calis Beach Indian twice last week and the food was superb on both occasions.
Will not be visiting again now until next year but will miss Hulki & Ahmet - they are both real gentlemen and make every visit there special.

Calis Beach normally opens on Friday and Saturday evenings during the winter...

We went back to Calis Beach Indian a few times in June and september. Agree Hulki and Ahmet are really nice and welcoming. We can never get through a meal each, so we have starters and just the one curry plus rice and nam and that is spot on. We always enjoy the curry dishes there, we tried the other one but, for us, it wasn't as good as Calis Beach Indian.

Just have to say we were extremely disappointed in our curry here a couple of weeks ago. Started off with soft poppadoms - they changed them, but why serve in the first place. Stuffed paratha was good but everything else extremely average to put it mildly. Only poor meal we’ve had here - were ver6 disappointed, I’m afraid. Don’t know whether anything els3 has changed this year?

We went to cb Indian last week and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had poppadoms and they were good, as was the starters and main meal. Never had a bad meal there.
