Carrefours near the new Otogar are offering 'normal' bread for 62 kurus, which, if I'm not mistaken, is 17 kurus more than the official government advised cost of 45 kurus. Mind you, it does have it's own little paper bag!! :P
Gordy.

Don't know what bread has to do with the price of a dolmus ;), but... Bread went up again last week "official" price is now 65 kurus for a small loaf, however a small loaf is now 300grm and not 250grm as before.
What surprises me is, that as this is the third rise in about a year, why aren't there riots in the street[?]

More, but that was not my point ;)
As bread is a staple, and the price is controlled by the state. An increase from 25 kurus to 65 kurus in the space of just over a year (for an albeit slightly larger loaf) is a hell of a jump.
Turks eat a LOT of bread so I was surprised there has not been more of a reaction from the people.
