Hi,
I'm in the throes of deciding whether to take the plunge, retire & move to Calis Beach next year.

My great love is boats & water, which is fine 'cause they tend to compliment each other!....Anyway, I was wondering about opportunities for buying a small boat, 15 to 20 feet maybe, just for pottering, picnice, sea fishing etc. I have had boats in uk for.....well it's a very long time!

Are there any requirements to have qualifications for a small boat?

Is launching, mooring, berthing, available?

Cheers for now,

Dave

Hi Albaman.  I will reply in the next twenty-four hours to your email.  The big picture re boats is complicated and expensive.  But it is possible if you want to be very simplistic and limit yourself to a very small boat, skiff or something similar with a maximum of 9.9hp engine usually an outboard.  Good Luck. Jon.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for responding. Just want to check out the possibilities re small boats. At home in Shetland Isles I have a 4.4 metre Orkney boat(semi-planing)with a 15 hp outboard. It would be nice, if we decide to take the plunge & move out, to have a wee boat with an outboard that I can do some pottering/fishing/exploring/picnics/ in.
Looking fwd to your e-mail.
Cheers, Dave

if you stick to under 10 hp outboard you wont need a turkish captains certificate, there is a good place to launch halfway along the beach from calis to fethiye, free of charge.
