...And once again, travel insurance nearly always DOES NOT cover such accidents - avoid quad bikes and please tell people to do the same!!! Bodrum this time. This lad is TEN YEARS OLD

Firstly, I feel desparately sorry for the wee lad and hope he makes a full recovery. But

Clearly a lesson for everyone who doesn't know, or want to know, that such activities are not covered by standard insurance policies and hindsight is a great thing, but do I take it from the report that the boy was driving :o

It does read so. Another thing that becomes apparent in the article is they got left behind the "instructor".

Or, to put it correctly, an "instructor" had a 10 year old child driving behind him and didn't even keep him in sight!!!

I've seen it many times with what looked like 16 year olds stoop, far less a tenyear old.

It's going to sound terribly naive but don't you need to produce a driving licence when you book.

In a previous life I had quite a number of customers who wanted to hire a moped/motorbike/quad bike while in Calis but never thought to bring their driving licence as they weren't planning to hire a car. A full and current driving licence is required to hire any of these vehicles. I never once had a problem getting them what they wanted.

Where were his bloody parents!

I've just read the article and have to say the Parents/step parent are obviously morons to of let the lad drive in the first place.

So sad, forget holiday insurance, any adult that does not hold a full UK motor bike license can not ride a squad/ scooter/ motor/ bike, on a full UK driving license over 49cc, its all ok until the S++t hits the fan, lets hope and pray he makes a full and quick recovery.
