Title: Is there a Turkish equivalent of Golden Syrup?
Post by: posleeds on November 21, 2010, 14:13:19 PM: Can you buy a Turkish equivalent that can be used as a substitute for Golden Syrup in recepies?
I didn't realise how much I used it unil now & don't want to pay a fortune for the real thing, which I gather can be purchased in Fethiye with the aid of a bank loan :)
Hoping someone can help...

Post by: LeeGlo on November 24, 2010, 11:23:15 AM: Have you tried using honey as a substitute? I think BIM is the cheapest at 10.75TL for a 850gr jar. Maybe somebody will know better.

You can get Golden Syrup at the Pork Shop and at Tugems (not sure of spelling) on the Tasyaka road, but as you say it is quite expensive.

I doubt anyone not knowing would notice it was not a commercial product: :) :) There is extra beer money to be saved here! A good dolop or two on my porridge this morning was magic.:D

I believe that it is 2 slices of lemon.
