Title: Lens Replacement at Esnaf Hospital
Post by: Gayle Taylor on January 25, 2017, 15:38:50 PM
I am considering having lens replacement and have been told Esnaf Hospital does this procedure.  Has anyone had this procedure done and do you recommend it.  I am shortsighted and wear contact lenses and would love to now have the lens replacement done.  Does anyone know how I make an appointment and what roughly the cost would be, thanks in advance.

Hi Gayle,

my wife had both lenses replaced in the UK last year and is delighted with the results - she no longer needs glasses at all.

The op is very quick (20-30 mins) and you have to use special eye drops for a few weeks afterwards.

Cant help on prices at Esnaf though.

If you go into the Esnaf & speak to the tourist desk they will be able to make you an appointment & give you an idea of cost.

Just over 400 pound per eye with imported lens.
I had it done over the period of 1.5 months and a friend has just had it both done within two weeks.
Prices from last year

I have mixed sight now, and I got fed up switching glasses all the time and am currently trying variofocals but not getting along well with them. Does anyone know if this lens replacement will work for that? I have read that even with lens implants some people will always have to wear glasses for reading.

Lotty,

my wife has "multi focal" lenses (made by Carl Zeiss) - she used to need glasses for reading and also driving - and needs neither now.  They do say that some people still need glasses in some situations afterwards - but they should be able to tell this after the initial examinations and eye tests that are carried out (I'm referring to the the process in the UK here).

That said - the costs mentioned by Jackstee are a fraction of the UK cost!.

Thank you Ian, where in U.K. did your wife have this all done? I'm a bit nervous but still interested in having this done - maybe in Turkey. I wonder could they get Carl Zeiss lens there.

- jackstee did your month and a half timescale cover from initial tests to the end result?

Thanks guys.

Covers everything
You pay your 70 tl for the consultancy and as long as each visit is within about 20 days you don't pay any more except for the operations.

I was so bad that with my driving glasses off I could not see the eye chart,

Yes I now need reading glasses and have them focused at around 50 cm so its perfect for the computer.

With out them I can now almost see tomorrow my distance sight is so good.

Lotty,

it was Optegra here in the UK.

I cant say they were inexpensive, but they were excellent.
