Title: Residency novice
Post by: KazB on March 25, 2017, 15:57:06 PM
So lets see if I have this right:-
1..I can come in on e-visa then start to apply for residency as soon as I get here and even if it takes longer than 90 days I can stay as I have already started the application ?
2.I need a Turkish bank account to apply for a residency and therefore I need a tax number first ?
3.I need health insurance ( I am 61) before I can apply for residency ?
4.Do I need to go to Mugla ( I am hoping to move to Calis Beach area )to do all these things or can they be done in Fethiye ?
I hope I have at least one thing right - sorry for all the questions but I am doing this on my own

Contact Inspector via PM on here and he'll take you through it all. He's a very very nice man.

He did mine for me, and true to form, mine was a right pain in the ar*e due to a problem with my property. He sorted everything, he is so good. His office is just by the water taxi on the corner. Really nice genuine guy, and has a great assistant.

Thanks for that Bernie - I didn't realise the Inspector could actually arrange the whole thing as well. Do you remember how much he charged ?
Title: Re: Residency novice
Post by: BernieTeyze on March 26, 2017, 00:08:48 AM
His prices were pretty competitive, however due to problems with my house registration, no address etc him running us here, there and everywhere and it taking so long to sort. So my costs were more and not as much as they should have been. The guy is really approachable, message him and ask.
The good thing about this forum is that you don't get a recommendation unless its deserved and inspectors rep as one of the good guys is thoroughly deserved.

I would also recommend Yakup Yilmaz who has his office in Fethiye and has worked for a number of years now performing this service. I know many ex-pats have used him
We do not need residency but we have been at his place when ex-pats where arranging it. We have used Yakup for translation services and he was excellent.  He will always come with you to any place you need translations done.  He helped us out 5 years ago with the arrangement for our son's wedding, don't know what we would have done without him and he charged us such a reasonable amount that Phil gave him more than he asked.
Yakup also has email.

You never do "straightforward", do you?   :)

Agree with comments posted, feedback I've heard about Inspector is all good.

I think last October Inspector was charging 200tl  for a full, lead you around by the hand, service + any disbursements (tax, health insurance etc). I was a bit braver, got a list of documents, which he checked over for me & paid 50tl + disbursements

A recent article on fb stated that it is now illegal for a 3rd party to do your residency for you.
Not sure how it will be policed.
Its so simple I don't know why anyone parts with good money for help anyway.

Can i apply for residency ( short term) online and will it tell me all the documents I need and then give me an appointment to go for a face to face interview? Is that basically all there is to it, I do quite fancy giving it a go on my own, not just to save some money but il be very pleased with myself after if i do it successfully   :)

Yes, it tells you what you need.. Its in English too..
Hardest bit is knowing which desk to go to in tax office & what to ask for in nufus office but plenty of people can help you with that and plenty of websites that talk you through the process.

Linda, I find that remark very condescending. It's all very well when you know your way around the various belediye offices & can speak some Turkish, but for anyone else, it can be a very daunting process, especially if you encounter the cow in the nufus office. I hadn't been through the process for 5 years, during which time so much had changed. Paying 50tl to have the knowledge that I wasn't going to have to run back & forth many times was a very small price to pay.

The point I also made is it's very easy to find people to help.
Last week I explained to a friend and drew diagrams of where the relevant desks are & wrote down in phonetic Turkish what she needed to ask for.
Free...
As it was in the Nufus a man approached her & took her to the desk and asked for her.

Hello Karennina

How did it go? I'm planning to apply for residency and I'm willing to do it myself but I'm afraid of the language barrier. I have a couple of questions if you or anyone else can help me with:

So when you apply online and get an appointment, where does it usually take place? Can someone explain how many places I need to go to.

I already have a tax and bank account. If any members of my family is applying with me, do they also need their own tax number and bank account. Or can they use mine?

How long would it take to get the residence card? I have only 30 days duration of stay in my visa.

If I leave Turkey after applying, can I come back to just collect. Or do I need to re apply?

No prioblem...Inspector is a member on here u can pm him, lots of people i have spoken to have used him to do their residency and cant praise him enough...I believe he can also be found at the Golden Moon estate agents along the front where the viewing point is, he also has a facebook group of which i forget the name, i can look it up for you if u need it...I have heard the application is taken from the date you apply so im sure having 30 days left will be fine but hey ho this is Turkey   ;)

Will residency rules and visas change when the UK adopt the Freedom of movement in March 2019?

Check Doc Martin's group on Facebook. His files seem to be the Bible regarding residency.

Hi Daveybill would you mind telling me please how much with everything including Mustafa's fees you paid for 2 yr residency? I was going to have a go myself but too hot to be wandering here there and everywhere! Im a little concerned re the healthcare policies as a lot of folk iv spoken to say they dont pay out in the first year so im kind of thinking if this is the case i may as well get the cheapest policy i can find as i have travel insurance and im only tsking out the health care because you have to...thanks in advance...

We've just done Mr WB's renewal with help from the wonderful Gurkan Gurol, and it doesn't really make any difference.
Whoever helps is not allowed to physically come into the office with you when you go to hand in your application and sign all the forms, but the guys in there know most people have help....and Gurkan simply waited outside so if there was any problem that we couldn't handle with our limited Turkish, we could have just phoned him.

Well my residency application is done and in, Im sooo very glad I decided to use Mustafa and his lovely wife they made it sooo painless and I believe mine would not have been straight forward as something to do with my address on tapu being wrong...this would have been very daunting, very difficult with the language and soooo very bad to have dealt with in the heat...to be taken to all the various offices needed without hopping on and off dolmuses was just great, in my opinion worth every penny, to be honest all in with one year health care policy included in total was probably cheaper or around the same price as the cos of the ludicrous flights from and to Dalaman this year...seriously can not recommend Mustafa's services enough   :)
