Title: Ciftlik
Post by: BernieTeyze on July 28, 2017, 18:47:32 PM
I am considering a new area to move to.my contract has ran out and I'm looking at other options.
What can you tell me about ciftlik and how is easy is it to rent
A place there and the average sort of prices for a years + rental.i heard prices are very reasonable there. Also the transport situation, I don't drive over here.
Would appreciate the help thanks, if not there where would you suggest please.

What about Kayakoy ? There are often some very nice properties for rent in the valley.

The ghost town..No sorry knob, the place gives me shivers going there. I know that's what it's called due to people leaving and not the Halloween variety, but as soon as I get to that wooded area I get a horrible feeling of gloom that I can't explain..no, place is not for me.thanks though.

I'm not saying the roads are bad in Kaya, but there are Syrian refugees living in some of the potholes. !!

When we lived here before we went to see wordbird who had a lovely rental there. No pool but a huge house, nice but It wasn't for me. I used to eat at some of the restaurants there too. It really isn't a place that appeals to me at all.

Love Ciftlik, lived here for 10 years, cannot comment on rental costs, but village is well-maintained, clean and relatively quiet without being dead!!!!Melisa Market stocks a lot of European produce, and will deliver if necessary, and the Pide place (Ozen's?) is fabulous value for money.

Thankyou, Are there good bus links to fethiye calis etc or do you need a car to live there? How far away from Fethiye or Calis on public transport please?

Buses run frequently from Ciflik, every 10/15mins, takes about 10 mins to reach Calis and 30 to reach Fethiye.

Ciftlik village is lovely. It has great bus links, a decent market every Thursday, Melissa supermarket, a couple of Pide places, and the usual barbers, water/gas shop, bike repair shop, plus the local council offices.

Not sure how hard it is to rent there though.

If you're thinking Koca Calis, Ciftlik then do some research to see if the area floods before you commit. There's a Koca Calis FB page if you want more info from the locals.

We love Ciftlik, really friendly village and surprisingly spread across a wide area as you rise up the hill. A couple points regarding transport, whilst the Dolmus service to Fethiye is very good, if you want to go to Cslis you will need to change domuses at the top of BMB by the Citroen garage (or walk) and just check how far you are from the Main Street as it can be a long uphill walk to some of the properties!

Thanks for the info. Is there a part where ciftlik ends and koca Calis starts, so I know where to stop looking or at least be vigilant please?

What a totally unnecessary and repulsive comment.

Bernie, why not move to Cali's itself. Would recommend the Sunday market area. Everything is on your doorstep. Only a 15-20 minute walk to the nicest beach in Turkey. Try it for 12 months and also it's a lot warmer in winter.

How very droll, will have to pass that on to my Syrian friends & see if they laugh.

A good comedian needs to know his audience Kevin. You'd have probably got away with it if you'd substituted "a tribe of pygmies" for "Syrian refugees".  :)

Besides, there are probably far worse potholes in the UK than there are in Kaya these days.

It was a bad taste joke..It happens. If I thought for a minute Kev was in anyway having a serious pop at Syrian refugees then I would say. He is a decent bloke who does alot for different charities as well as people on here. When I announced on CBF my daughter has Leukaemia he was the first there offering his support from empathising to offering to take me to the hospital in Devon from any airport I landed at. So cut him some slack. He is a decent bloke and a good LOYAL friend to many. He just made a wrong choice.

I agree - I am in awe of Menthol and the others who have done so much for the local Syrian refugees - and I am guessing Kevin didn't know that - but I also know first hand what a wonderful and giving supporter of local charities and good causes Kevin is and always had been.

Unfortunate but not malicious - can we have a group hug and move on..?

Bernie we are in Calis right at the back, by farmers fields, it is a lovely area. If you have only been to the beach area, you should take a look around.  In fact, our address often comes up as Ciflik and we can pay bills there too.
Much warmer than Ovacik would be better for you in the Winter.
