They ask you a load of questions in Turkish. Could be anything but is usually done in front of a panel of 3 to 5 people.

When I applied for mine they asked questions about why I wanted to live in Turkey, how I could support myself, my previous employment in the UK, what hobbies I have, what newspapers I read. what I thought of the Turkish people etc. As Starman says, its done in front of about 3-5 people. Mine was with the Governor of Mugla, a police chief, a plain clothes policeman and 2 others whose jobs I have forgotten. Dont forget you also have to have several medicals from a panel of doctors ranging from ent to heart specialist. You can get the form from the new hospital in Fethiye and can see all the doctors there too.

Were all the questions in Turkish and did you have to answer in Turkish?  If so - blimey - you must speak Turkish almost fluently. How did you learn?
I am going to classes, have a Turkish husband and still find it a struggle to learn.

yes, you must give the answers in Turkish but then again if you have been living here for 5 years you really should have learnt the basics by now.

Hi Janet. Yes the questions and answers were in Turkish but they took it nice and slow. If your husband is Turkish they will probably let him sit in on the interview. I did have  grammar lessons in a school in Fethiye (Akyali now closed) but my wife happens to be Turkish!!!

The official line is that although the UK government doesn't have a problem with people holding dual nationality, the Turkish government has banned it. When you take out Turkish citizenship you must relinquish your other passport and nationality.

Failure to do so can result in a huge fine.

Apparently, the maximum fine currently stands at about 20 (yes, twenty )YTL! LOL

Are you sure you need to give up your nationality and British passport?Have they just introduced this? This wasnt the case before. Why would anyone even consider that if it was the case as prospects here are obviously alot less than uk.Going back to liz question what would be the advantage?
