Manuca Honey for acid reflux.- Anyone else trying?

Ken you might be surprised especially if you've been having a teaspoonful or 2 a day for a while. It's the 1st 2 weeks that are definitely the worst BUT although sometimes it felt as though I was starting to get acid up a teaspoonful of Manuca got rid of that feeling within a few minutes.

Maybe I'm also a bit more positive that it will work as we swear by Tea Tree Oil & Bee Propalis & won't travel anywhere without our emergency kit. After suffering for 30+ years with really gross septic throats (when often I got worried that my throat was completely closed) at least 3-4 times a year & being free totally of them for the last 9 yesrs (Bless that lovely lady who informed me of the above 2 products!) I know that Manuca contains both of my favourite remarkable remedies.

Get the Manuca in & REALLY try it. The friend who's trying & also getting great results we also told about Bee Propalis & Tea Tree as she had the same problem with her throat so she was a convert to these products before me finding the Manuca. Have a bit more faith & you'll all succeed.

My hubby suffers really bad with indigestion and heartburn and we think Effes, Marmite and bread are the culprits - all yeast based.  He's never taken medication except the odd bottle of Gaviscon  but it has become so bad has decided to give up the three things he loves best which has really helped.

When he does get heartburn he takes ordinary honey as we can't get Manuca out here (unless someone knows different). This does relieve it but I imagine from all the comments that Manuca would work much better.

As with so many things it works for some.  So is part or all of it a question of mind over matter.......if you believe it does? :)

Manuca been clinically trialled & it does kill H. Pylori. However it's not a short term fix as to kill all the H Pylori it has to be taken for 3-4 months. You'll notice a vast difference in 2 weeks but it has to be continued to gain the full benefit. The beauty of Manuca is that it is honey produced from a form of Tea Tree - Tea Tree is a wonderful antibiotic but normally can't be taken internally however the honey can so you're getting the benefits of Tea Tree + Bee Propalis in 1 product.

Christie Hospital (the Cancer hospital) are trialling it now on people with throat cancer & on people with MRSA (on bandages) - with (so our doc says) pretty amazing results so far.

I really don't think it's mind over matter. You have no idea how bad I was even on the Omeprazole. Forget to take that & I'd soon know it. I think it's more a case of if you use it regularly enough you will be cured. As I already know how beneficial Bee Propalis & Tea Tree are then maybe I was a trifle more diligent about taking? As has been my friend who also had found the benefit of these.

As the Proton Inhibitors usually prescribed for bad cases of acid reflux & ulcers, have now been found to create a greater chance of hip problems (And they haven't been around that long) then I'm erring on the side of caution & trying to get off the things. I am off them.

From what I've researched (& I did quite a bit) IF you take regularly for 3-4months you'll be cured BUT you do have to take regularly. That's why I posted about it on here.

I was really excited when I came across it as working in the alternative health field I knew that this was likely to be a really wonderful product.

I'd offer to bring some more over with me but the cases are packed & we're just tipping over 20kg in each. You can buy it on the web, from New Zealand OR the UK - although the best price I've seen is 10+ Active from Tesco BUT if you get from N. Zealand you can get 20+ active - at a price!

Tisserand also do a teatree & manuka cream which seems to heal most any skin problem - my magic pot, won't go anywhere without it. Find I am always giving pots away when people 'borrow' it n realise how great it is. Even seems to work on animals as a friends cat had spent months with a bad wound which just would not heal despite everything that she and the vet tried.. left her my pot and sure enough one happy cat! I usually get mine in waitrose.

The turks also have a local remedy for bad throats chest infections etc, made from the sap of what i believe is the gunluk tree mixed with honey - it  works and has a definite tcp smell!

As a side note there are also some interesting studies in the effectiveness of manuka honey as a cure for leg ulcers.

As we seem to be discussing 'alternative medicines' does anyone have any other turkish local remedies (other than raki!)

My magic pot for skin problems is Pawpaw ointment from Australia - also supposed to cure leg ulcers AND apparently a wonderful cure for really bad bed sores - useful to know if you have elderly bedridden parents or friends. Wonderful on nappy rash, much better than the normal 'baby' products also great for really bad chaffings - the redness, whealing & soreness disappear overnight.

I'll look out for the tea tree & manuka cream. Had tea tree, propalis & aloe mixture which is good but the Pawpaw we found is better. With Manuca though it may well be unbeatable.

What is the Turkish remedy called?

I think Linda has gone on holiday today.

However manuka honey can be bought in Tesco.  I got it from the jam and preserves department

Tony they also do it at Sainsbury's.  I  think most supermarkets stock it in their jam/honey section.

I also heard that locally produced honey lessens the effects of hay fever.  When we lived in Germany I was taking a local honey regularly (before I heard about effects on hay fever) and only realised when we left that I had'nt had any major hay fever problems in that period.

Linda, I had the same problem as you, with my throat closing up occasionally.  It scared the life out of me and saw all sorts of specialists trying to find out what the problem was.  They did all the usual tests for throat and tongue cancer (could'nt talk for a week after the tongue biopsy much to delight of hubby!)
In the end they told me it was due to the gastric reflux (which I've suffered with for years) and that the acid from this was burning out the lining of my throat.  Did you get the same diagnosis or is it unrelated?  Has anyone else experienced similar?

I've recently stopped drinking and this has really helped with the gastric reflux but I will try the Manuka honey now as it sounds like that will work!   Thanks for the tip Linda
Julie
