Manuca Honey for acid reflux.- Anyone else trying?
« Reply #30 on: August 03, 2008, 19:54:03 PM »
A very interesting topic, it seems that there a quite a few people who suffer with the problem of acid reflux. I also suffer from this condition (told by my GP that it was "age related" ) and had been on Omeprazole for over 12 months BUT after a couple of bouts of very bad food poisoning (once while on a visit to Calis) I decided to stop taking Omeprazole, after it was pointed out to me (off the record from a friend who is a doctor) that this medication stops the build up of acid in the gut to such an extent that it cannot "kill" the bad bacteria that can thrive in the stomach and even food which is a little bit dodgy can trigger a very bad bout of the "trots" or worse food poisoning.
I have taken other forms of treatment to lower the chances of an attack of acid reflux as well as changing my diet (no more hot spicy curries, etc) but none seems to really provide a long term answer to this problem. I will certainly give this honey a chance to do its magic!!!!
Thanks for the tip and who knows I may be able to enjoy a curry again soon!!

Linda - been taking for just over a week now - as prescribed - 3 times a day - remembered to take 3 times on most days and I must admit I do feel it is beginning to make a "small" difference!

Lets wait and see what happens after a month.  :)

PS also got my mobile phone shield - you are like my personal physician!!!! :D

Linda, i had an doscopy 2 weeks ago and the specialist said there was no bug, also, i have never suffered with acid, the cause of my ulcer was through taking aspirin, it burnt the lining off my stomach. Alan

Yes Alan - you explained that on a different thread. I don't know what would help you - sorry!

Ian - the trick is to keep taking regularly & if you start feeling acidic then take a little more. I think in a month you'll be amazed at the difference - I was!

I went through hell with the acid reflux. Thankfully those dreadful days are way behind me now but I remember how miserable/uncomfortable it made me feel. I was even advised by a specialist to put the head of the bed up on 6" bricks/blocks to enable me to sleep - bloody crazy - when you realise that there is a CURE out there that they SHOULD know about!! Don't these 'specialists' read up on their speciality OR do they think they'll be considered 'Quacks' if they suggest a simple natural remedy that has been WELL documented to cure people? Then again - being VERY sceptical - they might upset the cash rich pharmaceuticals if sales of their expensive drugs stopped!

I hope the phone shield was very similar to the ones we sold - a very, very fine mesh. The ones we sold - 'Cell Plus' took out 99% or more of the EMF radiation. The one I saw on ebay looked VERY similar to me - did it have all the scientific proof in the folder inside with the website? If it did if you send the link to me I'll see if it is the same. If it is maybe you can give Doll the ebay link if she needs it?  Phones are better shielded nowadays than they were BUT adding one of these doesn't affect phone use & is an added protection. Have you noticed any difference making a call?

Personal physician PMSL. Just scratching the surface at the moment LOL. If I told you what our 'wonder machine' MIGHT be capable of once we learn how to use it properly (3 years & still learning) you'd fall off your chair.:D: :):D

Doll - sorry not been on for a few days to respond to yuor question.

I bemoaned the fact I had a history of severe pain from mobile / hands free phones down one side of my face after speaking for over 1 minute - after 3 minutes (ish) it became unbearable and I had to end the call!

Linda sent me a link on ebay for a shield (as described above in her post) and for £1.99 + £1.50p&p is sounded a good investment.

Will give an update after a few weeks - hoping it will work  :)

My cousin has a bad leg ulcer/absess - I have told him to try the honey - how do you use it?
Do you put the honey on & then bandage it up?

Yes Lorraine - change it once or twice a day. It's VERY sticky & you need a good pad over it to stop it coming through. Ultra towels we've found super instead of lint! Another great one for leg ulcers is Pawpaw ointment - although I've had to buy from Australia - we won't travel without that either. It's wonderful on chaffings.
