Car purchase without residency permit
« on: July 26, 2007, 06:16:49 AM »
Can anyone advise whether it is possible to own a vehicle without having residency, only a permanent address. I'm aware that it didnt use to be possible but have heard that the law has since changed?
Thanks

Yes, apparently the law changed in January. You no longer need to be a resident to own a vehicle.

Have had mine for over a year now no problem.
Be prepared to do a fair bit of legwork to get all the paperwork sorted though, or pay someone else to do it of course.:D

Tax and minimum insurance for my 8 year old 2.5 diesel 4x2 pick-up are just over 500 YTL per year.

Take a look at the Fethiye Times. They've published the vehicle taxation rates today.

Hiya, we have a property down the coast (Side) which we've owned for 3 years. We would like to motor down from Blighty- on an extended holiday adventure and leave our 6 year old Citroen at our property-flying back to UK. I know you only used to beable to have a foreign car in Turkey for 6 months (in 2005)Is it now possible to leave our car there, if so  how long for- and what do we need to do?

I'm afraid you can still only keep a non Turkish car in Turkey for six months.
