Hi-my daughter/grandson last week applies for their residents permit and were astonished by the extra charges involved-250 YTL to the muhtar in calis and 250 YTL to fethiye noter for the translation of birth certificate- have not heard about these charges before or maybe they are new- any members heard about these. mike

They're lucky. Our Muhtar asks for 500 YTL for a signature.

we dont have to have anything to do with the muhtar but generally if you need a signature from him then slip him a tenner.

Pretty sure I didn't have to give anything to my local Muhtar. I did however, have to have my son's birth certificate translated and notarised, which I believe cost me about 50ytl in total (although I am going back 4 years here) 250ytl does seem expensive, although maybe I got a discount as the translator managed to burn a cigarette hole in my son's birth certificate!!!
