WORK PERMIT, PERMIT FIRST WORK SECOND
« on: March 26, 2009, 15:02:02 PM »
Hi I write this as a warning to all.
Last year I worked for a well established English Yacht Charter Co as manager. I was told that all permits etc were in place.
I returned to UK for a winter holiday & as usual I drive my car both ways.
When I arrived back at the Greek / Turkish border, I wqas refused permission to enter Turkey & my Residence Permit was cancelled.
I was told that I can ask for permission to enter in 12 months  time.
This was because the company that I worked for had NOT even applied for my permit & this should be completed before work starts.
I own property in Calis & had lived in Calis for several years now so you can see just how serious this is for me.
If anyone has any advise please contact me.

That puts you in a difficult situation Nig!  Is there some way you can prove that you were duped, a written contract, terms & conditions of employment with them?

Thanks for the support, yes my contract stated that the company would be responsible for obtaining both Redsidence Permit & Work Permit.
I know that the company has been fined Ytl5000 but that is small compared to my loss.
The difficulty  is that I need to be in Turkey to lodge an appeal.

I think that your best bet is to contact the Turkish Embassy, in London, or wherever you are now.  There you seek clarification of your legal position, and apply for a tourist visa.  When you are granted the visa, you can then resolve the other issues, within Turkey.
Without knowing your circumstances.  This has been the approach adopted by others, with visa problems.
