Allergy Testing
« on: May 18, 2009, 07:57:32 AM »
Hi. Last year I read in one of the free english papers about being tested for allergies.  I suffer really badly with hayfever, worse here than in the uk. Back in the uk I have had the steroid injection, topped up if necessary with tablets. Did anyone see this add or know where I can go. It stated that you would be tested for several allergies but the result would be back within a week. Thanks :)

Hi Antonia
Try the Deva Poliklinik at Hisaronu, Tel no. 252 6167600. Murat speaks excellent English and if he can't help he will direct you to a specialist.

Hi Antonia.
Like you I suffered hayfever, actually allergy to tree pollen, very badly in the UK
For two years whilst in Turkey it seemed to have gone, however this year it has returned with a vengence, interesting to see that tree pollen this year was reported in the Land of Lights  as the cause of the yellow film on the sea in Fethiye Bay.
I recently changed my tablets {on the advice of a UK doctor}from one containing Desloratadin which were proving ineffective to some with Acrivastine which so far has  been brilliant.
I think the allergy testing people may go under the name of Bioresonance,And they are in Fethiye in the area behind the new Finans Bank Building on the 22 Metre Road sorry I havn't got more specific directions I got this info about third hand.

Thanks for all your replys, I have upped my tablet from 5mg to 160mg. Still this has not really helped.  I have since found out I can have the injection at the latoon Hospital.  I'm hoping the worse of it has been and gone and june will be more enjoyable. If not Latoon Hospital here I come.

I'm glad it is not just me then.

I just arrived back in the UK after 10 fantastic relaxing days followed by 4 days of hell as I suffered the worst hayfever I have had in years. I normally get it pretty bad but the last few days in Calis was truly dreadful.

Antonia, I would be very interested in your findings and if anything works for you as I go out again in a month or so and I cannot face that hell again. I should point out that I am getting symptoms also now in the UK (didn't before I left), not as bad as Turkey though but still not good

Hi Steve

I've been reading about hayfever etc and apparently if you come from a cooler climate ( uk) you are more than likely to suffer badly from the pollen off of Olive trees!!!  This could explain why I had an horrendous month of May, as beside our villa we have an olive orchard and the neighbour in front has olive trees in his garden!  So far June has been alot easier for me, but my hayfever hits me anytime day or night.  Also I've been told you can get the injection at the clinic in Hisaronu.  If I have the good fortune of being out here next May, then I will definately have the jab, as soon as I get here.  Hope that helps, Sonia x

Don't suffer personally but have noticed in the UK that Lloyds Chemist are advertising a gizmo with two prongs that you stick in your nostrils 3 or 4 times a day for continuous relief. I think it's on half price offer at around 14 quid. Must be worth a look for regular sufferers  8)
