I have swam in May before Lisa, the water is not like in August when it is like bath water, but it was fine, I have also swam in April and that did require bravery it was quite icy! Usually May is lovely in Turkey.

The weather is definitely warm enough, what isn't is the water! It is probably only in a couple of weeks at best and although the warm days heat it, the colder nights lose it. This is why the July & August pools feel like a lukewarm bath, the heat has been taken in and as it doesn't cool down much at night, the heat stays in the water.

Once you are in it is fine, but it will be cold at first in May - especially if the pool was filled using underground well water, which is icy cold going in :(

lisac - don't worry about the weather in May.  We're there 8th-22nd May, same as last year and the weather then was super.  Hot enough to sunbathe and stay on beach, or by pool all day if you want to.  BUT, as others have said here, the water is still cold.  Plenty of people do use the pools then, but they are much braver than me!!

Hope you enjoy your stay.   :)

EErrrr!!! I think it rained quite a bit during that period last year which included carnival week, although there were good days, I would not have described it as "super". We were swimming in the sea on the 21st May last year (and it was raining), and the water was bearable.

In the past have tried several hotel pools late Apr and early May,but would not recommend the sea on the other was preferable.
