Actually, when you get a 12 month residency you only really get 9 months. As you enter Turkey on your 10BGP tourist visa and then apply for residency, your date of entry is taken as the date that your 12 month visa starts.

Not correct. When you apply for a 1 year residence, you get one year from the date of application irrespective if you apply on the first day on your tourist visa or the last.

I got My 2 year residency in 2007. I entered the country on tourist visa on 10th March. My residency was dated from 10/3 2007 and was valid until 9/3 2009, and the issue date was 16/4 2007. My latest 5 year residency(renewed last year) is dated from 9/3 2009 until 8/3 2014.

Definitely Starman. There are a number of people here in Mugla area who have only had 9 months for their 12 month visa.

Another example why they should get their immigration practises sorted out and made more uniform. Its like having one set of rules to live in London and another set of rules to live in LLandudno.

We arrived in Turkey on 27th August 2007, applied for our residency (3 years) during October, was issued on 6th November and it is valid until 26th November this year.  Ours was also done in Mugla.

It means you have to visit seven or eight offices in the heat of summer when it can reach the high forties or even low fifties c.They are in different areas too.I think it is best to take a few days to do it if you are applying for yourself.
