Shopping In Izmir

Has anyone been shopping in Izmir? can you recommend a hotel ? do you have any tips or advice for someone going for the 1st time ?

We stayed in a lovely hotel in March near the motorway with a spa and about 10 mins (car) from The Forum shopping center and Ikea. It's not in the center so it will depend on where you want to be and how much you want to spend as Izmir is a huge place.
