Can someone explain to me why is there a need for these visa runs to Meis & Kas? Are they used for people who don't have full residency?

So does that mean people would need to do a trip every 90 days?

Not many people do the run now because residency is much cheaper than it was £55 a year, they did say it would be compulsory for anyone with residency to have medical insurance as well. This is about 255tl a couple, per month. It has been put on hold at the moment. I just wonder with the residency costs being reduced so much, it could be a sprat to catch a mackerel.

Well I guess you would still have that option. But personaly I feel that if you live here you should have something in place (either private or goverment insurance), should something unfortunate happens healthwise...

Can see where you are coming from Mark but if it does become compulsory to take out the medical insurance then 250 tl(about £100) for a couple is a bargain, to be fully medically covered for health, eyes, teeth as well as cheaper drug charges.
