Great info for those who want to apply.

I just cringed a bit when I saw the words 'internal' and 'rubber' in the same sentence!

A quick update on my post of last Tuesday of my experience of the Medical now involved for ex-pats wishing to join SGK.
Having picked up a possible lung problem from my X-Ray, I was asked to return the following day for an MRI scan. Everything ran smoothly and to time. unfortunately I had a reaction to the mildly radioactive dye that is injected to create a magnetic field with the scanner. This is not necessarily common but Also not unheard of - I certainly felt very rough for the rest of the day.

The result of the scan will be ready tomorrow but there will but there is no doctor available to read them. the specialist panel of doctors reconvene next Tuesday, so I will be seen along with my results on Tuesday morning.

I have heard that the couple who had some queries about their blood results have since been retested and their form rubber stamped for approval for them to join the SGK. What I don't yet know, is if any preconditions will be excluded from their application. Hopefully they will come on to the forum and tell you what happened.

More from me, as and when, next week!.....Fingers crossed

We have only been on the SGK for 2months, Mick never wanted to join and and we had to pay 2,174 fine. If we had to go thru the 23 steps, we definately wouldnt be on the scheme, as patience is not Micks strong point. By the time we got to the phychiarists dept he would have needed counselling and we wouldnt have been accepted  lol.  Hope ur results come back good.

Yipeeeeeee.  We finally are on SGK , Tuesday we go to bank to pay and then were all sorted. Today we went to office with all relevant paperwork but they could not find our address on there system , so went and got that done and bobs your uncle. The cost of the health checks for 2 people has been approx. 350tl. Then it cost 100 tl for translation of marriage lines, plus backdated payments of 10 months. Its quite a costly business ,but at least we have peace of mind now . It has been quite a stressful experience as you don't know what is going on at the hospital, and you don't know if they will put you on the scheme until  lthe very last minute. Hopefully they will get there act together   in the future as they get more used to dealing with these new checks.

Sorry this promised update on my attempt to join the SGK is rather late. In the middle of everything I had to have a broken wisdom tooth removed which was quite traumatic!......Stitches out tomorrow!....

Anyway, I was eventually accepted on to the Health Programme but it was far from a straightforward procedure. After counting up the amount of hours, it eventually took me, it was twenty seven!.....
Granted, there were complications like needing to have an MRI Scan but it was a time consuming and lengthy process, most of it consisting of hanging about.

The MRI Scan proved my theory that the abnormality that was thrown up in the chest X-Ray on my left lung, was in fact scarring due to a bout of pneumonia four years earlier and not deemed to be a problem
However, it also picked up an aneurysm on the Aortic Artery and I am to see A Cardiologist at the Devlet tomorrow to find out exactly where it is, Heart, Chest, Stomach?....I currently don't know the size or severity of the aneurysm
As I've been allowed to join the SGK I'm banking on the aneurysm being small and only needing yearly monitoring. I'm sure had it been about to blow I would have been whipped into Hospital and my Credit Card demanded toot sweet
