Shaka Restaurant being demolished
« on: January 15, 2014, 18:56:23 PM »
We passed Shaka today and were surprised to see it was being demolished.  My husband asked what was happening and was told it was being redesigned.  At the moment they are operating from The Veranda Restaurant next door.

I wonder was it illegally built and was pulled down, like others have been on the prom at Fethiye??  We also love the Shaka and always go for meals there.  I am disappointed, hope it gets rebuilt.  I remember it was just bought by a new owner last year and as someone said it was so modern I cannot see another reason to pull it down.

When we walked past last night the shaka had been gutted but not demolished. We spoke to the owner last week and he stated the place was being refurbished and should be open again in a month or so. We will have to find another restaurant as the Shaka was one of our regular eating places.

We have used the Veranda but find the menu limited and expensive and the seating leaves a lot to be desired.

You won't have to find another restaurant in the interim as the Shaka is operating from the "old" Veranda.  They have their own seating outside, don't know about inside, and it is the Shaka menu they have displayed.

I heard that the new Shaka owners also bought Veranda recently, hence the Shaka menu being offered in veranda whilst refurb takes place at Shaka. Also heard that one side will be a fish restaurant, which would not surprise me as one of the new owners is also owner of Hilmi restaurant in the fish market.

The Shaka menu is not being offered  in the Veranda we went in and checked a few days ago. We will be there this morning and will check again.  :)  :)
