Our June 2018 holiday: Restaurants
« on: June 24, 2018, 20:16:52 PM »
In our opinion Babzen Kebak has significantly raised the bar as regarding eating out in Calis.

We enjoyed Oben, Calis Beach Indian, Bella Mammas, La Casa Di Mamma, Café Soul, The Brothers (except their wine) and Mangal. We did not enjoy George’s Steak House.

Firstly, nice to have seen Brenda and yourselves while over there. We went to Babzen Kebab after several people recommended it. I had lamb casserole and Mrs T had the chicken casserole. The casseroles were good but the combination of dishes that came with them seemed strange, cold couscous, pickled cabbage, onion salad and peppers. Hot veg or chips would have been better we think. The major upset of the evening came when a LARGE street dog came in and violently chased a resident cat and her kitten around and under the tables. This was unfortunate I know but it's not something you want to see when you are out for a meal. On a plus side the best meals we had were definitely in Obens.

Nice to see you also chris35

We found the absence of chips and vegetables a refreshing change.

As for the street dog incident that could happen at Oben.

Taken on board John. Each to his own I suppose. I would say that they should get a good curry chef in.  Curry in a casserole dish with that lovely naan bread covering it with a side of Chips and yes, rice would be a winner   ;)

Why should they get a curry chef - It's not that type of restaurant.

Surely you can get a curry with chips and rice elsewhere.

Agree with you Highlander, Sahli's Babzen is the only restaurant We would go out of our way to visit in Calis and give me one of his lamb shanks to a dish of curry any day!!  ;)

Us tooo sooo very glad not to have rice chips and salad at Babzen, we had one of our worst meals in Fethiye last trip, waiter looked at me like “ what do you think it comes with” on every meal after being told on my enquiring what does it come with..rice chips and salad of course!

Wouldn't like to have friend like that Sadler. If that dog had got hold of the kitten there would have been carnage. I suppose you know the dog personally.
