Title: Rose Food
Post by: Old Daffodil on February 16, 2010, 09:31:43 AM
We have a lot of rose bushes in our garden, ramblers etc. Can anyone recommend a good Turkish rose food brand (suitable for Ovacik soil) and where to buy it. Also the white lilies are blooming, I think they are Alum lilies. Is there anything which is a good food for them?  :)

Thanks,never thought of that. :D

I do not know if this would be suitable for the Arum lilies though as they are in pots on my veranda!

Get some horse, cow, sheep or goat muck and put it in an old sock, a pair of tights, or a bit of netting of some sort and leave it in a bucket or watering-can of water overnight and then use the water on your roses or lillies etc.

You can also soak cigarette butts for a few days, and the nicotine that leaches out of them will act as a natural insecticide.

Her in Ovacik, loads of poor horses tethered, collect it, but don,t use for 6 weeks or will burn  your plants, leasve to rot for a while.
