Can anyone give me some advice on the the various options availabe on cental heating in Calis for the winter months,
Evie

yeah, good subject, i thought about air conditioning units but i would also think about central heating, is it expensive to install & to run, Alan

I see lots have regular central heating. We're not sure what the nights will be like this visit but if we are caught short and are cold we can use a small gas heater till we figure out what we need.
-
We were thinking of bringing a couple of halogen heaters. They are meant to be very cost efficient with different heat settings and only about £12 upwards to buy.

You can get central heating here.
As there is no main line gas you have two options.
One is Calor gas and the other is deisel.
You do have to have large tanks on your balcony or in your garden but it works pretty much the same as in the UK.
I use the air conditioning on hot but that is unpredictable as the air con in our office doesn't heat up.
My favourite is a calor gas push around.
So there you have it, probably the most boring post on the forum but essential in these winter months.

We had a gas boiler installed, that heats the radiators in all of the rooms and gives instant hot water for showers etc. Pete

Is the gas tank in your garden?
-
We've 3 large gas cylinders in a purpose built cage.......Pete
-
but you cant really do that in an appartment on the 2nd floor so i think it's aircon.
-
I would imagine aircon is expensive to run on heat-cycle during extended periods??? is it????
-
dont know, got to find out. got a duvet just got to find a hot woman if Dawn leaves me
-
One of our customers has a gas tank on their back baclony so it is possible.
-
IT's possible to have gas plumbed in, even at that level, so long as you've somewhere to locate the gas cylinders or tank.....Pete
-
nearly as bad as avin a load of logs on balcony, ... that, if ican't find another hot woman i'll get 2 duvets
-
I've got a spare electric blanket!
-

My Japanese sister in-law loves using the roll about heaters - the top gets hot so she uses it for cooking!

Thanks Everyone for your ideas. We currently have Mitsubishi Air con/Heaters and althought they are more expensive to buy initially, they provide plenty of heat/air for the two bed house that we have and they are extremely economical and very quiet. However, we are thinking of moving to a bigger house in the future and wondered what other heating options were available. Our friends have a large detached house in Calis but they use oil heating which is EXTREMELY expensive.

We have just come back and this week bought a gas heater for 160 mil (complete with bottle) to supplement the air con heating at night. Did'nt need to use either much but just enough to take the chill out of the rooms that we were actually using.
