Title: what do you register?
Post by: BernieTeyze on January 05, 2014, 21:59:47 PM
Do you have to register kindles and kindle fires? Laptops? Tablets? Mobiles.
If so what is it you have to do and where? I'm assuming there is a fee, is this yearly or a one off fee?
Thanks all.

I think it is mobiles only. If you use a uk mobile with a Turkish sim card it will get blocked after a week or so. Registration fee is about 120 tl I think.
Try searching on the forum I think there are a few topics about registering mobiles.

slikmrs, I really do wish you would stop putting ideas into the head of the Turkish Tax Man !!   ;) He makes enough money from ex-pats/holiday makers already, without taxing electronic toys!!!!

If you buy a Turkish mobile phone or gadget that uses a SIM card, the shop where you buy it will register it, you will need to take your passport, but you will NOT have to pay the tax. Which only applies to imported phones.
