I’ve also been doing a bit of research as planning our post covid trip back to Calis soon.

Apparently they changed the rules in March last year so you no longer need a visa if you are staying for less than 3 months (90 days):

“British Citizens travelling to Turkey for tourist or business purposes are able to travel without a visa for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.”

Source: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey/entry-requirements

Details around PCR test are a bit more confusing but here is what I have understood if you are fully vaccinated:

You need to complete the following form within 72hrs before entry (1/2/3 days before arriving in Turkey).

https://register.health.gov.tr/

Currently UK don’t require you to have pre-departure PcR but you may still need negative PCR taken within 72hrs before arrival by Turkish Health (check form above closer to the time of departure).

When you return to the UK (if after 4th October):

You need to fill out the following passenger locator form 48hrs before you arrive:

https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

Have a PCR test within 2 days of returning back to the uk (may change to lateral flow by end of October).

Source: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#fully-vaccinated

Please do your own research and double check with your airline/travel operator etc. Before you travel to make triple sure.

Now Turkey is off the Red List, we are out in mid October, can anyone tell us what is open, are there many restaurants closed. Is the Promenade completed, what are the restrictions/rules. Many people would like to know this before committing to coming out. Anything you could add would really help. Thanks in advance

I agree with Gillian's post, do we still need a pcr test to get in?

From what i can see, if you are visiting/flying from the UK you need a PCR test 72hrs prior to arriving in Turkey

My problem is that I am driving down to Turkey, so if I am delayed my 72hrs may well run out :P

If youre driving to Turkey, its possibly a different scenario for you as you will enter Turkey from an EU country

I may well risk it, I suppose if I don't have one with me, I can get tested in Turkey, maybe?

Gillian I'm with you. So what comes first the 72hr form or the pcr test?
Some say take the 24hr pcr test and receive the results the day before travel.
However when filling in the form some say you require the pcr ref to be shown to complete??
Will be sitting on the fence until the 4/5th Oct (1 week before my travel) but if anyone can offer
any clear advice It would be appreciated.

Good news, if you are double jabbed, you no longer need PCR test:

“The Turkish government has removed the PCR test requirement for double vaccinated UK travellers.

Arrivals from the UK must now present just one of the following: proof of full vaccination; a negative PCR test taken 72 hours, or a negative antigen test taken 48 hours, prior to arrival; or certification of recent recovery from Covid-19.”

This is brilliant News, but unfortunately we cannot get out before Nov 8th meaning we will miss the Direct Flights from London (EJ, Jet2, TA, PGS, Tui etc etc), so will have to go via Istanbul, and domestic flight down to DLM. Done this many times before in Non Covid days, so no issue for us to wonder round the new Istanbul Airport or SG airport for a few hours, Can anyone tell me is there any other restriction, legality, paperwork needed for Brits flying internally (Thinking here of HES Code etc) ??

Thanks for any info regarding my question.

Hi All just returned from Calis Beach and thought it might help with some observations, tips if you are thinking going!

Getting through Dalaman was a breeze, there were more checks and hold ups at the Airport in the UK.

Once in Calis you'll notice there are a lot of restaurants and shops that are closed (some only this season), but those that are open are really pleased to see you and prices are very reasonable, roughly 300 lira for meals/drinks for 2 in Georges/Serkule2 etc and I know you'll want to know the normal barometer, EFES can be anything from 18 to 30 lira, but averages at 25

You are supposed to wear a face mask when walking around and generally most people do, but remember where you are!

One thing that did get most people caught out is that if withdrawing cash from the machines on the main road, they charge you 4.99% to take cash out, so £100 will cost you £104.99, so my advise is to take either Lira with you or sterling. The exchange rate on the week we were there started at 11.25 and by Friday it was 12.00 to the £. Remeber to turn your mobile to airplane mode and turn mobile data off, it can be very expensive.

The promenade is finished but is already requiring some maintenance, if it rains be careful because it can get slippy.

When returning, fill your passenger locator form out and have the QR code or form available on your phone or tablet to show at check in at Dalaman as well as your COVID19 jab forms.

Hope this is useful and enjoy.

Garanti and YapiKredi both charged in the range of 5%; however, last night I was pleased to find that Halkbank didn't charge...guess where I'm taking cash in future?

I checked the Google and it doesn't show any in Calis, but there are 5-6 in Fethiye. The one I went to is located in Erasta Mall. That doesn't mean there aren't any Halkbank ATMs in Calis, perhaps someone else can help with their more local knowledge.

Does the atm warn you about the fees before you get the cash?

Yes, I think they are all required to tell you the charge; however, I found some will only tell you percentage (4.99% or 5.99%) while others tell you both percentage rate and the monetary amount, which is better because you're not trying to calculate the cost and then (like me) also trying to convert that cost into GBP (yes, I know, silly when it is 5 or 6 per 100 of either currency).

Returned from Calis on Monday evening after a brilliant 12 days, sadly on arriving in Dalaman we were met with chaos due to the information about UK locater forms that people had received from Airlines so here is a brief explanation of what you need

1, Make sure you have access to all 4 pages of your UK locater formas you will need to show all pages, whether on your phone or printed off, if you are relying on your phone make sure you can access them without the need for WIFI as its pretty much useless in Dalaman, Iphone users can file them into Books as they can be retrieved from your Library whilst offline, printed out is the best solution Mehmet Burak Turan in Turkcell shop next to Meri Bar can assist you with printing Thank you Mehmet.

2, make sure you have your vaccination status clearly to hand as these are also asked for, make sure they are printed off so staff at check in can read them, DO NOT RELY ON NHS APP to show them as many where finding out back to WIFI issues in Dalalman.

we saw two groups turned away from check in due to the fact that they only had the QR code page for their UK PLF you need all 4 pages
