You should have a great time.

For eating you are spoilt for choice with an endless list of restaurants lining the promenade and the main road to the beach.Take your pick - Turkish, english, italian, chinese - they are all there.

Of course for the son there is the waterpark which has plenty of space for you to relax.

Plenty of shopping in and around Calis (Fethiye) and everything else including great selection of beaches are only a Dolmus (Bus) ride away

Hope you enjoy it

Steve

If you are wondering if you will have a good holiday experience I bet you will. Fethiye is I think a better place than Calis for eating out but Calis is not bad. My rule of thumb is the best restaurants are the ones Turkish and English people both eat in; next best are the ones Turkish people tend to go to and least best, the restaurants who cater mainly for the English where you get chips with everything and tomato or HP sauce.  There is plenty of choice. If you are anxious about food hygienne standards, don't be. We have never had a problem and most places are exceptioanlly clean. There is plenty to do for a 12 year old, though thankfully theme parks are in very very short supply!!! Tell us how you find things when you get back home? Stuart

The Oykun Hotel is an excellent choice as it is in the centre of Calis and close to all the amenities. Its a lovely hotel and although we haven't stayed there , we have an apartment right next to it and we go over and have a swim, a few beers and lunch most days when we are there.

Thanks for all the info.  The jeep safari sounds fun, might just have to give it a go! Have heard Turkey is a good place to get prescription glasses a lot cheaper than in the UK. Is there anywhere in the area anyone has used?  Looking forward to some new experiences & sun....Roll on end of May!!!

There's a couple of opticians on the edge of the old town in Fethiye. I got a pair of glasses there about 5 years ago that were substantially cheaper than UK prices at that time, but these days the prices are much the same & if you have a fairly complicated prescription, you'd be pushing it to have them ready within the week. Enjoy your week
