Traditional Turkish Recipes
« on: July 31, 2007, 13:32:32 PM »
Hi all

We have just returned from a brilliant  :) 10 day holiday in Calis once again & are absolutely gutted to be back - we are already trying to get our flights booked for our next visit but unfortunately it wont be until next June :(

I always love to try the traditional Turkish dishes when we go out for meals & was wondering whether anyone could point me in the right direction of some receipes, decent websites, books.... so I can try it at home??

Might be a bit of a random question but worth a try!  ;)

Thanks

Lauren xx

When I get a bit of time I want to add this section. My idea is to have two 'relevant' sections - Turkish Recipes and Recipes for non-Turkish things (I envisage 90% British then) that can be made in Turkey, i.e. where all ingredients are readily available in Turkey.

I will kick it off with my recipe for fantastic sultana flapjacks.

Don't laugh, making things from back home is difficult if you need things you can't buy here  ;)

:)Lauren if I were you I would go to a Turkish restaurant,
Many a time I have come home and tried to cook a Turkish meal, but without the ambience, the sea views , the chattering in the background, and all of the other things that make it special, a bacon butty tastes just as good. ;)

Nice selection of Turkish receipes here:

and an online Turkish cookbook here

Go on, give it a go! At least it will pass the time until your next visit ;)
