there are over 1200 different species of scorpion world wide. of these only 20 or so have the venom strenght to kill an adult. that said small childern and elderly folk are most at risk. these little guys are nocturnal hunters soooo its while you are asleep that they crawl all over you. in the med area you have about four that should be avoided.we rambled all over calis and the fethiye area for a month and saw many snakes but only 5 scorpions. on a hill walk make plenty of noise going through the bush and they'll scarper.  but in bed its best to keep your mouth shut: :): :). night night dont let the bed bugs bite.:D

nocturnal ? :o tell that to the little 'darlings' that climb on my towel while bathing by the pool .......(Luckily not big black beasties, but smaller green coloured nasties).  They seem to like hiding in the stone wall :([xx(].

I think black ones not as bad as browny-yellow ones, but will stand corrected!

Every now and then you get through the sarcasm and get to the real answers to the questions asked.

It's all about snakes and scorpions and the threat posed to people going on holiday to the area who are genuinely worried, no sarcasm or patronisation needed, or "I've lived here for years how big am I", sometimes it needs a different perspective, we can all say how big we are because we've been somewhere lots of times and seen it all and got the t-shirt.

And we go in such and such a bar or restaurant. WAW, aren't we awesome?

I am taking grandson out this year and would be lynched by the other granny  if anything happened to him.
So is there a way of keeping scorpions away?
