For all the budding photographers out there, the Calis Carnival Committee is inviting you to enter it's annual Carnival photography competition.
The competition is open to all amateur photographers, old and young alike and there are six categories for you to enter:
Humorous
Portrait/People
Wildlife/Natural History/Animals
Seascape/Landscape
Cultural/History
Black and White/Sepia - any subject
The one major condition of the competition is that all photographs must be taken in Turkey. Contestants can enter one photograph per category and the photographs can be mounted or un-mounted. The contestant should put their name and contact details and the category on the back of the photograph or mounting board.
There will be cups for the six winners (see photograph) and certificates for the 2nd and 3rd placed entries in each category. These will be chosen by an independent panel of judges including a professional photographer.
Contestants must be aware that all photographs entered will not be returned and that they will become the property of the Calis Carnival Committee and may be used in future carnival publicity projects. For example some of the photographs entered last year were featured in the Calis Carnival 2009 calendar
Entries should be handed in to either the Kismet Bar, Val's Bar or FETAV Office in Fethiye or the Nil Bar or Cafe Soul in Calis. The closing date for the competition is Friday 15 May. The photographs will be exhibited as part of the Carnival Exhibition on Calis seafront on Saturday 23 May June.
