Its time to drop Rooney
« on: October 12, 2010, 22:41:00 PM »
He played bloody awful tonight and for the recent past, world cup and club.  Is it now time to drop this guy?  Has he run his course? Is he the player he once was?  Has he fulfilled his potential?  Has he been over hyped for the past few years?  Do we actually give a damn?

I think you are right - I think he burned out towards the end of last season and needs to be left to his club to get a regular football but not a must win match twice a week. A break from international duty can assist. This is a player who scored 34 goals in 44 games last season, hardly overhyped, just knacked. He needs a break in more ways than one.

Totally agree. It appears that he was burning out at the end of last season, but maybe it was the fear of his misdemeanors being brought out in the open was playing on his mind.
He was a brilliant player, but I fear he has lost it.So yes, time I think to hang up his England shirt.

Hang up his England shirt - at 25 - I don't think so - I agree with Gav. He'll be back.

I was one of the unlucky 73000 fans that had to sit through that dismal performance.[:(!][:(!]:-\:-\

Glen Johnson was shocking as was Barry, Rooney is a class player but has not had his best form for some time now. The blame for that shambles last night is down to the manager and will continue to do so whilst picking out of form players????? :o

I never paid for my tickets for the game and yet I still came away feeling like I had been robbed!!

Glen Johnson takes a dive trying to cheat his way to a free kick, Davies and Wright-Phillips do the very same and Rooney struggles to chase back and thus slides into another player swiping his legs from under him. Do we really have to resort to those tactics against teams such as Montenegro?

Massive support present by HM Forces, I bet they were disappointed by the lack of passion shown by our national football team, I know I was!!:-\
