The profit and loss figures of Martin Edwards' association with a football club would I suspect be rather different to those of Abramovich. The point I am making (and you are choosing to miss!) is that if the day comes when the Premiership is won by the team with the richest sugar daddy, is the day when the English game and sport go their separate ways.

Leeds won the last ever First Division title without Howard Wilkinson spending anything like what some of the other clubs had spent.

The Premiership is different though - now if you don't spend you have little chance of winning it. However the richest club in the UK is making a damn good job of trying not to win it (eh Number 1?)
