One of the many ex-Luton town legends (  ;) ) Graham Alexander today became only the second outfield footballer EVER to play 1,000 professional games. Impressive as a fact but also impressive as he is still near the top of the game at 40 years old, but most impressive because he was 20 before he made his debut.

A true pro.

Agreed - a modest 110% man who really leads by example and a good penalty taker as  well - the phrase "old school" seems appropriate but intended as a huge compliment !

Just out of interest does anyone know (without cheating via Google) who the other player to achieve this feat is?

Not Gary Speed.

I'll give you a clue, he was from Grimbsy & that's who he played most of his games for. Also he never played in the Premiership or old 1st division so that makes it a bit harder!

PS: Shilton played the most matches as a keeper so Highlander was 50% right, just needs new specs to read the questions now lol.
