It was on the cards ever since Diageo, the parent company of Guinness, bought out Mey Içki last year (who are the largest alcohol distributers in Turkey, owning all the big raki labels).
Diageo has hired Carlsberg to look after the technical side of things, as their guys know a hell of a lot more than Efes does about quality control.
It was a heart breaking thought these past years thinking of the ships sailing up the Bosphorus towards Bulgaria and Ukraine with kegs of Guinness within their hulls. Finally they've broken through the Turkish bureaucracy (corruption) to deliver it to our fine shore too!
Expect it to be pouring freely sometime after September 20th! Look for places that have carlsberg on tap and those would be the places most likely to have it in the future or petition the bar owners.
About time a decent beverage was served here.
