This is the area we want to enclose. The second picture shows one already done.

The truth is that you are unlikely to have any problems but it is not correct to say you can make changes as long as they do not increase the footprint or total area of the build. You also do not need any approval by neighbours. Neighbours only come into it because it is them that normally start any action, by reporting your modifications.

I personally would get on and do it. It is not legal in my view, like every roof terrace in Calis is not legal. But most people have one.

As previous replies stoop"..do not put any brickwork in at all,
As Danky said ,we were on a sitest next to yours, out of 63 places 45 of them had put in various sorts of PVC,brickwork etc to make the two bedrooms bigger,we did check if we needed permission, they just said if any neighbour complains you will be fined and may be told to revert it back
For 6 months no problems...then zabita turned up,we were fined 2000 tl,we were told that would be an end to it,HOW WRONG!!
Nearly 1year after this we had a vist from the jandarma, they wanted a statement as to why we had done this, statement given, they said that would be it...WRONG!
Nearly 6months after that ,at 11o clock at night 2 jandarma motor bikes and a jandarma van turned up.
Was told I was in court Tomorow at 1o clock, why I asked? You have added to your property illegally, and the council are taking you to court
Had to get official translator quickly,
Anyway arrived at court, shown in 2judges and recorder were there, turns out the council said they sent 2letters to get me to reinstate but had never received them,I live a short distance from their offices, and know many by their 1st name, nobody had told me!
Anyway to cut this story short I got a two year suspended prison sentence for five years!
6 months later managed to get it quashed,by re instating the work
BEWARE
Thankfully can only laugh at it now

I always knew you were dodgy :D

And what about the other 44 properties with similar modifications - did they have to go to court? I assume they all have been reverted back to original like yours?

No ,not heard anything from anyone else, have sold it now,
Seems they wanted to make an example of me,I was told not to say anything about the others, but the judge knew about them as when I was away they visited my house
When I was in court they produced pictures which the judge himself had taken.so I had to pay his costs for the visit!

I wonder if this would apply if you were opening up a balcony out of your roof space by removing tiles as that is not increasing the living area as balconies are not included in sq m on Tapu if I am not mistaken?

Have seen new roof terraces appear randomly in our area and no-one seems to bother?

No, it makes no difference where the roof terrace comes from, whether it is old roof space with tiles removed or something larger.

There are loads, maybe that's why no-one seems to bother.

What a really pretty house Stoop.  Lucky you.

It looks like the other house hasn't removed their veranda barriers either so it really would be a case of putting in windows/glass doors then.  Don't know anything about the legalities but it sounds like a clever idea to me.  Hope you find some neighbours to do it with you.
