I Could Eat a Squirrel
« on: February 24, 2014, 16:48:31 PM »
This sounds a bit like the recent "I Could Eat a Horse" thread but I thought I would put it here in case I inadvertently begin emitting steam and smoke from my ears. In the last couple of minutes on Radio 5 Peter Allen has called for an "Eat Grey Squirrels" campaign. In his view it would solve two problems at the same time: help feed the UK population; and rid of this American vermin and replace it with our own delightful Reds. Absolutely right. I have long argued for such a thing. In fact I may well have done so on CBF. My only amendment to Allen's proposal is that it should be lead by TV celebrity chefs who insist that these must by wild grey squirrels. Otherwise dozens of grey squirrel farms will be set up up all over the country, and then lots of these domestic sqirrels will escape, and we will be in a worse mess than we are now. These chefs should flood TV foodie shows with gourmet wild squirrel recipes and gaining a Michelin star should depend on your signature squirrel recipe. After all grey squirrels are not an endangered species; well, not yet they ain't.

Arise good people! Let us eat our way out of our current despond.

"Eat a horse" is for people with normal appetites :D.   "Eat a squirrel" is for those with a small appetite or who are on a diet. ;D

Colwyn not sure I could eat one of those tree rats, but I could probably eat a banker if it will help keep their population numbers in check.

They are indeed rats UBT and we have the same problem with them so are we advocating eating vermin now? I don't think it will catch on.   :)
