Izela restaurant Kayakoy
« on: February 15, 2015, 15:41:27 PM »
We had a great meal at the Izela last night, they laid on a special meal for valentines day. There was good atmosphere with Turkish families there. We were the only Brits.

From the 26th February they will be opening each weekend (Thurs, Fri & Sat) it's great for us as we can walk there.

I can highly recommend the place, we have eaten there for many years. It was a good thing we were known as we could not pay the bill. :-[ :-[ We usually pay with the plastic but last night their machine was not working.

Go down the lane opposite the Istanbul corner. It's clearly signed. Parking is very restricted.

You'll have to sneak quietly past Engin.  ;)

Yes it's excellent. We have stayed at Gunays Garden for a couple of nights and Izelas is the restaurant there. The food is lovely and slightly different from usual Turkish fare. The accomodation and facilities are fabulous ideal for a special occasion, give it a go Jacqui.    :)

Jay Rayner ate there this summer and was blown away.....went into the kitchen to thank Tolga - who owns it with his wife and is also head chef - and said he didn't know how produced such fabulous food with only three of them in the kitchen. To say they were chuffed is an understatement!   :)
