Chuck Berry at the London Rock & Roll Show
« on: January 06, 2017, 17:13:08 PM »
This was the first ever Rock Concert at Wembley, August 1972, and the first time I saw Chuck Berry live. Bloody fantastic all day concert

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_0l1zxNeKg

  Those appearing included.  Chuck Berry
                                             Little Richard
                                             Jerry Lee Lewis
                                             Bill Haley & The Comets
                                             Bo Diddley
                                             Emile Ford & The Checkmates
                                             Billy Fury
                                             Marty Wilde
                                             Joe Brown
                                             Heinz with Wilko Johnson
                                             Screaming Lord Sutch
Roy wood with Wizzard.  (debut gig )
                                             Linda Gail Lewis
                                             The Houseshakers
Gary Glitter. He got booed off and pelted with cans of beer. Pre plastic cup days.
                                             Plus others

The Platters, The Drifters, & The Coasters were due to appear but work permits were delayed.

The film is mainly the latter part of the show and Chuck Berry closed the show but kept on playing and they had to keep
asking him to finish playing. I got high on the spliffs being smoked around me.Iv'e seen Chuck Berry live several times since,
but the best was in the USA, accompanied by the late, great Johnnie Johnson.    Pure talent.

I'd rather attend an Abba concert (in truth, I'd rather clean the bathroom).

Guess we're all so different.

Watched Bowie's "farewell" concert at Hammersmith Odeon (spectacular)

Michael Jackson (Wembley) - so so - nothing special.

Wings at Hammersmith Odeon - best gig I have ever been to. Everybody up and dancing and singing. Pure class and showmanship.

Each to their own, eh?

I like both choices and why not? Kevin's are earlier than yours Stuart but all are good IMHO.
I think you cannot compare Jerry Lee Lewis with Michael Jackson, different music altogether, but still  quality from both of them.
