Changing terminals at Istanbul airport.
« on: March 06, 2020, 14:42:39 PM »
Just checking flights from LGW to DAL for November.

The most convenient flight only gives us 80 mins to get from International arrivals to domestic departures, personally I think that is to tight.

As we now do things for comfort and convenience we think an over night stay at the landside Yotel at the airport is the less stressful option.

Any info/suggestions  would be most welcomed.

Regards

The new airport at Istanbul is massive Don. Even changing flights both in international terminal can be 30-40 minutes walk I’m told.

It's getting 4 stars on Tripadvisor. About £90 a night for November.

The airport is about an hour from the city centre so you're not going to save anything by going to one of the bargain hotels unless you intend staying a couple of nights in Istanbul.

Fortunately the airport wont be as busy that time of the year, so it will be easier for you to get about.    :)

We stayed 2 times at Yotel landside. Becoming a member of their website and booking directly on line is cheaper. Not a bad hotel. Food and drinks are very expensive. We will try Radisson Odayeri for our journey at the end of march. Let's see...

Just a side thought Don.

As a more "senior" gentleman could you not ask for the assistance service, this will almost guarantee you wont miss the connecting flight as they will wait for your "buggy" at the departure gate. This worked well for my ex father in law a few years ago as he was a bit slow with walking in his later years.

Thanks for that Mark.

I do get assistance at airports but in this case we decided to stay overnight in Istanbul so we get to Dalaman at a reasonable time. It's a long day for us "golden oldies" to do it all in one day.
