Dolphin Roundabout
« on: March 06, 2020, 17:16:09 PM »
Long gone but still called the same. I put this on Facebook and thought to share it here.

There was once a car accident at the Dolphin Roundabout that was caught on CCTV that was doing the rounds many years back. Sad maybe but great to see film of our beloved old junction. It has disappeared from where it was on YouTube so I searched there for car crashes Fethiye. Don’t do this. Some truly awful footage - as most of us know, there is no censoring or editing of this type of thing in Turkey...

As I recall, it was a roundabout but when they put the traffic lights in they took the roundabout out. The junction (traffic lights only) was still known as the Dolphin Roundabout. Of course the roundabout returned but the dolphins (and turtles) did not.

I loved this,a proper kitsch feature.I believe it was removed when the cycle race came to Fethiye.
I still give directions based on the dolphin or dolphinless roundabout.

Ah Yes.. .Gone but not forgotten. Remnants lay scattered around the taxi rank for some time before being scraped up before being unceremoniously dumped.
