I just want to start a thread about the positive contribution children and young people make to society.
I think our junior schools are some of the most moral institutions we have. For example children are taught to have an active concern about people who are deprived. It can be argued that children have been in the forefront of caring for the environment and recycling - something fostered in junior schools. Their leadership has greatly influenced parents to recycle more. I have seen children exercise sound judgement and proper concerns when parents smoke, get drunk, don't wear seat belts and use a mobile phone while driving. Also many children and young people care for their disabled parents or another family member. This is far more than those who carry guns or knives. So I pose the questions what lessons have children taught you?
