MSN VIRUS
« on: July 31, 2010, 16:26:08 PM »
I appear to have an MSN Virus, it is sending out messages to all my contacts on line 'Who did this photo of you on Facebook' do not open it, it is not from me and will bar you from contacting any of your contacts that are on line.

Any suggestions that might help would be appreciated.

Andy

Try www.malwarebytes.com    Dont know if it will work  but it is free and is very good at getting rid of obscure gremlins. :)

I got this through MSN a few years back and have stopped using MSN messenger since then. It is a sod to get rid of and I eventually had to go into the registry to delete the bad files. If I can remember what I did I'll message you with the details.
Spybots a good start.

Things appear to have moved on a little since I had it. Maybe this will work:

Brill Tinx. I seem to remember the virus I had kept replicating itself and I had to delete some files from the registry in the end. Hopefully the new version of spybot has found a way of getting shut completely.

It's amazing how many peeps get caught out with this MSN virus through messenger. Touch wood - since I removed MSN messenger a few years back I've been clean ;)
