Just watched the latest episode where the girl won 1p, this is the 36th winner of 1p, why has there only been two winners of the £250,000? surely the odds have to be the same[?][?][?]

No, because the gains/losses risks in real terms are not the same. For example, if someone is left with the lowest box and 5th lowest (1p and £5) the risk of not taking the middlish offer is nothing like having the highest box and 5th highest (£250,000 & £35,000) and not accepting the middlish offer.

People are far braver when there is something like £3 at stake than ten of thousands :D

Yes I can understand maybe why they dont actually win it, but why is it the £250,000 box doesn't make it to the last two boxes as often as the 1p

It does, it's just people don't gamble on having it, and take the offer instead.

going by dated stats, you appear to be correct -By the 1000th show the 1p has been brought to the table 42 times and has been won 20 times! The £250,000 has been brought to the table 40 times and has only been won twice! The £250,000 has been in box two the most and box 13 the least.

The 1p has now been one 36 times and still only twice for £250,000

Well it is quite a gamble - losing £4.99 when there was only a fiver or a penny left is neither here nor there, but the offer when the two boxes left are £250,000 and £35,000 would be in the region of £80,000 - not many are brave enough to risk £45,000 (£80,000 - £35,000) in pursuit of an extra £170,000. I think it's worth the gamble as you still guaranteed to get £35,000 but when the £80,000 is yours for the taking just by saying "deal", it can't be easy  :)

Also, the risk gets harder when the 2nd box is a low one - £250,000 and 10p would take a brave soul to go past the last banker offer [:o]
