White paint
« on: November 11, 2012, 23:10:48 PM »
Any advice on what brand of brilliant white gloss paint to use that will stay white.
I decorated the bedroom about 5 months ago and the woodwork looks like we smoke 60 a day in the room.
I used Dulux (not so) brilliant white gloss.

It may be that you should have treated the walls first.  We had a sort of fungal infection on the walls which makes the paint go very dark, so we took advice and got some anti fungal liquid and put that on then re-decorated and it seems to have worked.
We also find Crown Paint better that Dulux,  have a friend who is a Painter and Decorator and he recommended Crown.

Could be that the woodwork wasn't properly seasoned and/or undercoated before being glossed and the natural oils in the wood are breaking through.

There was an item on Watchdog about Dulux paint. A lot of complaints were that it went yellow within months of use.

I think that you will find that Dulux had a problem with their white paint as I recall seeing a item on Watchdog about this a few months ago.

If I recall you can go back to where you got the paint and they will replace. See the atricle below. Hope this helps.
